The second Hanoi autumn festival, which was originally scheduled to take place from September 12 to September 15, will be postponed due to the impact of typhoon Yagi and the subsequent flooding.

The administration of Hanoi will instead host the event between September 19 and September 22.

The festival was first held in 2023 with the aim of promoting both the capital’s autumn destinations and tourism products.

This comes after local authorities had initiated plans to open the festival with a music gala held at the flower garden area of Ba Kieu Temple on September 13, with the function focusing on the theme of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day on October 10.

The highlight of the festival will be a display of 150 stalls which will showcase an array of products from trade villages, special dishes, and gifts during the fall season. They will be organised on the iconic old streets situated around Hoan Kiem Lake, including Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Thach streets, as well as the Octagonal House area.

The highlight of the festival will be a re-enactment of local people waving flags and flowers to welcome the victorious army on Capital Liberation Day on October 10, 1954.

Visitors will also be treated to several mesmerising dance performances, including both folk and sports dances, along with a fashion show featuring the elegant Ao Dai (traditional long dress).

Young attendees will have the opportunity to participate in parades and painting activities, and visit exhibitions displaying children’s artwork.
