US$200 million wind power equipment factory to take shape in Long An

Dong Tam Group of Vietnam and CS Wind Group of the Republic of Korea (RoK) signed a co-operation agreement on land leasing on September 10 to invest in the construction of a large-scale wind power equipment factory in the Mekong Delta province of Long An with a total investment capital of US$200 million.

The factory will be located in the Southeast Asia Industrial Park in Can Giuoc district of Long An province, and Dong Tam will be the main investor.

Under the co-operation agreement, CS Wind Vietnam will lease 50 hectares of industrial land in order to build a manufacturing factory and assembly yard for offshore and onshore wind tower, as well as wind energy products such as monopiles, transition pieces, and other materials, which will be supplied to the global market..

The factory has an operating capacity of tens of thousands of units annually, aiming to provide super-sized and super-heavy equipment from 500 tonnes to 4,000 tonnes each.

In particular, 100% of products and accessories for the first phase will be imported and exported through Long An International Port, with an estimated volume of between 150,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes per year.

Vo Quoc Thang, chairman of Dong Tam Group, also emphasised that after being put into operation, products will be exported to countries around the world through Long An International Port.
