Ha Long City of northern Quang Ninh province that is home to Ha Long Bay is hosting a hot air balloon festival on September 1-2 to mark 30 years of Ha Long Bay being recognised as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site (1994 - 2024).
Themed “Heritage City - Colours of Ha Long”, the festival aims to create a new festive atmosphere and attract tourists during the four-day holiday period to celebrate Vietnam’s 79th National Day (September 2). October 30 Square by the shores of Ha Long Bay in Ha Long City is vibrant with around 20 hot air balloons on display, attracting locals and tourists to experience new services. In addition to the model balloons, the organizers have set up two tethered hot air balloons, about 50 meters above the ground, to allow visitors to catch the panoramic view of the bay, one of the most beautiful in the world. Apart from the hot air balloon festival, there are also paramotoring services, allowing visitors to fly from Bai Chay over the Cua Luc Bay to the October 30 Square and vice versa. Travelling from Uong Bi City to Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) from 5 a.m., Dang Thi Huong and her family expect to get an unforgettable experience by flying with a hot air balloon this time. “This morning, more than 100 tickets were issued by Ha Long City for residents and visitors to experience the new service and view Ha Long from above,” says a member of the organizing board. The two-day festival features hot air balloon flying and touring, alongside a light show, music, dance, and art activities. A group of tourists from Hanoi enjoy the service during their visit to Ha Long City during the National Holiday period. The hot air balloon festival organized by Ha Long City aims to implement the “Ha Long – Festival City” project, aiming to turn the locality into the city of festivals with 31 festive events to take place throughout the year. The project is also to promote Ha Long’s heritage, culture, and people, creating an appealing tourist product for the summer of 2024. VOV
