Local players recorded their first win after trouncing Expressway club of the Republic of Korea 3-2 during the 2024 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup held August 25 in the northern province of Ninh Binh.
In their first opening match, Vietnam lost 0-3 to Kazakhstan. The team led by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet therefore made every effort to win their second match in Group A. This comes after their Korean rivals easily defeated Paint Masters club of the Philippines 3-0 in their first match. Both teams showed great efforts in the initial minutes of the game. The first set ends 25-18 in favour of the Korean players. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, FIVB Challenger Cup's top scorer and best spiker, put in a strong performance during the game. The spiker helps to bring valuable scores for the Vietnamese team. Vietnamese volleyballers reverse the situation and win the second set with a score of 25-22. Korean rivals quickly dominate the third set which ends 25-16 in favour of Expressway club. The match seems even more intensive in the final set. Local players trounce their Korean rivals with score of 25-23 in the fourth set. Spiker Bich Tuyen puts in an incredible performance throughout the game, playing a key role in Vietnam's success. The game ends 3-2 in favour of Vietnam, marking their first win at the VTV Cup 2024. Moving forward Vietnam will play against Paint Masters of the Philippines on August 27. VOV Photos: Vietnamnet.vn
