The first-ever lobster festival opens in the central coastal city of Cam Ranh on August 3 and is scheduled to last through to August 11. The highlight of the festival is a lobster culinary performance contest held on August 9, drawing the participation of 60 contestants of 20 teams from across the country. The festival aims to provide information regarding local lobster development planning, transfer and demonstrate new technologies, and limit environmental pollution occuing in lobster farming in Cam Ranh. It will also create a golden opportunity for Cam Ranh, dubbed “a kingdom of lobsters”, to further promote domestic seafood consumption and exports to international markets, as well as boosting tourism through various unique and attractive activities taking place during the festival, according to Ngo Huu Hien, vice chairman of the Cam Ranh municipal administration. The organisers present the first prize to a team from Ninh Thuan province who have created six dishes made from Cam Ranh lobster.
