Serial collision leaves six casualties in Central Highlands province

ĐẮK LẮK — A serious accident involving three vehicles killed two people and injured four in Cư Mgar District of the Central Highlands province Đắk Lắk.
The local police reported that the accident occurred late Tuesday on the western bypass section on the Hồ Chí Minh Expressway of Buôn Hồ Town passing through Cư Mgar District.
According to the initial information, a tractor-trailer with licence plate number 82H-018.04 and trailer licence plate number 81R-010.83 (driver’s identity unknown) was travelling from Gia Lai Province to Đắk Lắk Province.
When the tractor-trailer reached the above location, it encountered a problem and stopped on the road.
At around 8.30pm, at the same location, two trucks with licence plate numbers 81C-239.11 and 60H-047.00 (both drivers' identities remain unknown) travelling from Gia Lai to Đắk Lắk provinces collided with each other and then consecutively crashed into the parked tractor-trailer.
There were six people in the cabins of the two trucks at the time of the accident.
As a result, the driver of the truck with licence plate number 60H-047.00 died at the scene. Five others were seriously injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, one of the five victims passed away at the hospital due to critical injuries.
At the scene, the fronts of both trucks were severely crushed and heavily damaged.
Immediately after the accident, Đắk Lắk Province’s Police were present at the scene to conduct rescue operations, regulate traffic, and investigate the cause of the accident.
The accident caused traffic jams for many hours as a large volume of traffic usually passes by this road. — VNS
