The northern province of Quang Ninh, home to UNESCO-recognised Ha Long Bay, is expected to receive a group of 6,000 Indian tourists to explore local scenic spots from August 29 to September 3.

The provincial Department of Tourism said on August 6 that it has discussed reception and security plans with relevant agencies to ensure the visitors would have a wonderful trip to the locality.

This is one of the largest groups of Indian tourists to ever visit Ha Long City, and local authorities hope that the thoughtful reception will help create a media effect, helping to promote tourism potential of Ha Long in particular as well as Quang Ninh in general.

India is a new and potential market for Quang Ninh’s tourism. Notably, Ha Long is often chosen by Indian billionaires as their preferred wedding venue.

In February, the wedding of Indian billionaire groom Vivek Dinodiya, director of PL Global Impex Pte Ltd, and bride Anmol Garg hosted hundreds of guests, including Indian government officials, representatives from the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, and prominent entrepreneurs from India and Southeast Asian countries.

Their three-day wedding thereby reflects the efforts taken by the locality to diversify its tourism products and markets.
