The President Ho Chi Minh relic site that covers an area of nearly 10,000 square metres in Udon Thani, north of Thailand is a famous destination among Vietnamese expatriates, Thai people, and international friends.
The relic site is located in Nong On hamlet of Muong town in Udon Thani province and is considered the oldest monument commemorating the late Vietnamese President in Thailand. The site is divided into two parts, including a three-chamber thatched-roof house where President Ho stayed and worked for national salvation in the late 1920s. The relic site is the place where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked in 1928 - 1929. Daily items used by President Ho are on display. The site is inaugurated on the occasion of the 126th birthday anniversary of the late President (May 19, 1890-2016), and considered a symbol of the long-standing friendship between the two countries. A tourist writes in a guestbook at the relic site. Pham Duc Dau, head of the relic site’s management board, shares that the location is a famous destination that attracts a large number of both Thai and international visitors each year. The other part of the relic site - the multi-purpose house - has two floors, with the bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh placed on the altar on the first floor. Many Vietnamese expats come to visit the President Ho Chi Minh historical relic site in Thailand. The site tends to draw crowds of overseas Vietnamese (OVs) every national holiday, Tet (Lunar New Year), and on President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday. A space showcases photos of the late leader’s life and career, especially his valuable autographs and greetings to the OVs in Thailand during their first trip to the homeland on January 10, 1960. Through the items put on display, visitors to the relic site learn more about President Ho in his endeavour to seek for national salvation, particularly during the time when he lived and worked in Thailand.
