The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has exported the first batch of longan to both the United States and Australia by air this year with longan orchards in the locality meeting the strict standards imposed by import partners.
The longan batch is provided by the Trang Ti Garden Fruit Production Cooperative in Thoi Hung commune of Co Do district. Currently, the cultivation process is closely monitored in order to meet the stringent requirements set by importers. If the weather is favourable, then each farmer can earn between VND200 million to VND250 million for each hectare. People harvest the longans specifically for export. The harvesting process must be strictly implemented to ensure the products come up to standards. Each longan is then carefully selected for export. People harvest each fruit carefully to ensure the highest quality. Members of the Trang Ti Garden Fruit Production Cooperative take good care of the longans. The cooperative's longan growing area for exports spans over 69 hectares. The profits from exporting the fruit are very high. After harvesting, the longans will then be classified. The longan fruits which are able to meet the strict standards will be exported. The packaging process at the factory before export.
