As part of the announcement of the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said the biennial festival aims to provide a chance for international and Vietnamese filmmakers to hold exchanges, honour excellent cinematographic works, and seek new talents working in the cinema industry.
The event is also expected to promote an image of the nation as a safe, friendly, and hospitable country, the Deputy Minister added.
A wide range of activities will be organised in the capital this November, including opening, closing, and award-giving ceremonies; a film project market; and seminars on cinema industry. The event will also set up a special corner to focus on German movies.
The exhibition will see introductions for film producers; domestic and international film distributors; foreign cultural centres in the nation; and the cinema industry of Japan, Germany, Russia, China, and the Republic of Korea. The event will get underway in front of Thong Nhat (Reunification) Park and in the Ly Thai To flower garden.
There will also be outdoor movie screenings, exchanges held with actors and actresses, and sightseeing tours which pass through several attractive destinations around Hanoi for participants to enjoy. The schedule for ticket distribution and film screenings will be updated on the event website.
HANIFF was first held back in 2010, becoming the first international film festival to take place in the nation.
Since 2016 it has been open to cinema industries of different countries and territories around the world, instead of solely focusing on the Asia-Pacific region as before.
The sixth edition of the festival was scheduled to be held in October, 2020, but had to be moved to 2022 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
