Vietnamese meat exports record third consecutive monthly rise

Vietnam exported more than 2,520 tonnes of meat and meat products for US$9.84 million in May, representing increases of 84.2% in volume and 52.8% in value compared to May last year, and marking a third monthly increase in a row.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency of Foreign Trade, the first five months of the year witnessed the country’s exports of meat and meat products reach 9,740 tonnes worth US$41.34 million, up 40.4% in volume and 25.1% in value year on year.

Its major consumers were Hong Kong (China), Belgium, Laos, China, Malaysia, France, Canada, and the United States.

Of them, Hong Kong (China) represented the biggest importer, accounting for 33.8% of the country’s total meat exports. It mainly imported frozen whole-suckling pig flesh and frozen whole pork.
