The Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism hosted an opening ceremony on July 5 evening to kick-start the Hue Lotus Festival 2024 at Tu Tuong Park in Hue, the former imperial city of Vietnam.
Hue Lotus Festival 2024 is due to run from July 5 to 7, featuring a wide range of specialties and handicraft souvenirs on display across 20 stalls, along with an exhibition and folk games for guests to enjoy. The highlight of the event is a fashion show showcasing a collection of Ao Dai (traditional long dress) created by local designer Viet Bao, a demonstration of Hue lotus specialties by culinary artist Mai Thi Tra, and cuisine from the main chef of An Nhien vegetarian restaurant. Tea is infused in white lotus. Representatives of local authorities attend the event. Unique performance put on by artists as part of the festival. Lotus flowers are printed on Ao Dai costumes. Paper lotus flowers capture a great attention from visitors in the exhibition space. Hue girls don Ao Dai costumes which are printed with lotus flowers. Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Van Phuc, director of the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Department of Tourism, says this marks the fourth time the Hue Lotus Festival has been held, aiming to honour the value of Hue lotus, and introduce culinary dishes of lotuses to a large number of domestic and international guests. Delegates and tourists enjoy sampling a range of delicacies on offer at booths set up at the festival. The festival is expected become an annual activity that will boost the local tourism industry within the framework of the Hue Festival over the coming years. VOV
