KHÁNH HÒA — The Vân Phong Economic Zone in the south-central province of Khánh Hòa is attracting dozens of large-scale projects, which means more than 4,200 households will need to relocate to accommodate these projects.
According to the plan, about 2,500 households in the Bắc Vân Phong area of Vạn Ninh District and 1,700 households in the Nam Vân Phong area in Ninh Hòa Town will have to move.
To arrange resettlement for households affected by the projects, the Ninh Hòa Town People's Committee requested that the provincial People's Committee to complete infrastructure of the Ninh Thủy resettlement area, with a total area of more than 100ha, as well as build two new resettlement areas in Ninh Diêm Ward and Ninh Vân Commune.
In Vạn Ninh District, the Vân Phong Economic Zone Management Board asked the provincial People's Committee to upgrade and expand the Vĩnh Yên Resettlement Area, and construct the new Vạn Thắng Resettlement Area with an area also exceeding one hundred hectares.
The Khánh Hòa People's Committee requires departments and localities to urgently review and compare ongoing resettlement areas with approved plans.
In the Vạn Thắng Resettlement Area, investment procedures must be completed to start construction in November this year.
Nguyễn Tấn Tuân, Chairman of Khánh Hoà Province People's Committee, said that building resettlement areas must be associated with vocational training and job creation for affected people, especially workers in the fisheries and agricultural sectors.
Strategic investors must also be responsible for contributing a part in building modern resettlement areas, similar to those in the modern urban areas, said Tuân. — VNS
