New case of monkeypox reported in Đồng Nai Province

ĐỒNG NAI — The Đồng Nai Provincial Centre for Disease Control (CDC) has reported a new case of monkeypox in Trảng Bom district.
The patient has been identified as N.V.L., 28 years old, residing in Lộ Đức Hamlet, Hố Nai 3 Commune. He tested positive for the monkeypox virus on June 23.
On June 19 the patient was admitted to Thống Nhất General Hospital in Đồng Nai Province with a high fever and several pustules around a centimetre round on both lower legs, particularly below the knees, as well as on his palms, soles, back, face and genital area.
According to preliminary epidemiological investigations there has been no information indicating that the patient travelled abroad or had contact with foreigners. He currently lives with his parents and there have been no reports of similar symptoms among his household members.
Immediately after recording the case, the Đồng Nai CDC began an investigation into the patient's contact history over the past 21 days before the onset of the disease. The CDC also forwarded information about his contacts to the Pasteur Institute in Hồ Chí Minh City and the CDC in Tây Ninh Province for further investigation and verification.
The agency has intensified public awareness campaigns about the disease and provided recommendations for residents to understand and proactively prevent monkeypox.
The patient is currently isolating, receiving treatment and being monitored at Thống Nhất General Hospital in Đồng Nai. VNS
