Fitness coach Sang Wuk-an of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s has joined the coaching staff of the Vietnamese men’s football team, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

He officially began his job on May 15, with the goal of improving the stamina of the national team’s footballers, especially the national men’s squads as they aim to qualify for major tournaments such as the Asian Cup and FIFA World Cup.

Sang Wuk-an will work as an assistant in charge of improving the physical fitness of the players, analysing technical videos, and putting forth ideas aimed at boosting body constitution of the national men’s football team.

The Korean coach previously worked for Cardiff University’s football team in the UK. He was also in charge of coaching young football teams in the RoK, including Seoul FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

This comes after the VFF announced Choi Won-kwon as an assistant for new head coach Kim Sang-sik.

The VFF unveiled that coach Kim Sang-sik will use three Korean assistants and nine other Vietnamese associates as part of his coaching staff.

The Vietnamese men’s football team will gather in June to prepare for two qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 against Iraq and the Philippines.
