Vietnam tops SEA bodybuilding and physique sports championships
As a regional bodybuilding powerhouse, Vietnam topped all of the men's and women's classes and overall medal tally at the Southeast Asian (SEA) bodybuilding and physique sports championships which concluded in Laos on May 19.
The final day of the competition saw Le Hong Phong triumph in the men’s 60kg category.
Earlier, Nguyen Trong Khanh, Nguyen Van Quang, and Chau Nguyen Kha brought home three gold medals in the men’s 75kg, 60kg, and 65kg, respectively.
Elsewhere, Ta Phuc Nhat Tan took home two gold medals in the men’s classic physique for 1.67 metres and in the men’s fitness.
The other gold medals went to Le Vinh Kha in the men’s classic physique for 1.75 metres and Ha Thi Thanh Trang in the women’s classic physique for over 1.65 metres.
Furthermore, Tran Thi Thanh Tam and Chau Nguyen Kha also bagged a gold medal in the mixed couple’s bodybuilding.
Apart from nine gold medals, Vietnamese bodybuilders also clinched nine silver and six bronze medals, coming first in the overall medal tally.
The tournament, which began on May 16, attracted the participation of more than 200 athletes from across the Southeast Asian region.
