Vietnam beat Australia to reach final of AVC Women’s Challenge Cup
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team remains undefeated after securing victory over Australia to advance to the final of the AVC Women’s Challenge Cup.
The first set saw Vietnam get off to a slow start and took a while to get into the match. Outside hitter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen showed her talent, together with Tu Linh and her teammates, to trounce their opponents in the second and third sets before then concluding the match with a decisive 25-16 victory.
Vietnam will next face off against the winner of the semi-final match between the Philippines and Kazakhstan.
The AVC Women's Challenge Cup is an international competition in Asia and Oceania for unranked senior women's national teams of the members of the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the continent’s governing body for the sport.
The tournament was founded back in 2018 and is held every two years. The first competition due to take place in Hong Kong (China) was not held due to unforeseen reasons. The second edition two years later was also cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The winners of the Cup will receive a place at the FIVB Women's Challenger Cup.
