The number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan reached an estimated 233,800 during the past four months of the year, marking a rise of 8.1% compared to the same period from 2023, according to statistics compiled by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

April alone witnessed the Far East nation welcome a total of 61,600 Vietnamese arrivals. Particularly, the number of Vietnamese visitors to the Japanese market in March hit a new record of 67,400, marking an all-time high.

During the January to April period, the number of Vietnamese tourists heading to Japan was higher than other Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia with 180,200 arrivals, Indonesia with 179,400 arrivals, and Singapore with 178,400 arrivals.

These figures mean that Vietnam ranked 10th overall among the top 25 countries sending tourists to Japan during the reviewed period, the JNTO reported.

Japan represents one of the top foreign destinations for Vietnamese travelers as many people are keen to discover it during the cherry blossom season between late March and mid-April. Visitors can also enjoy witnessing flowers bloom in some areas until late May.

Furthermore, tourists can also easily fly to localities around Japan such as Kagoshima, Kagawa, and Fukishima prefectures from major Vietnamese cities.
