A total of seven Vietnamese representatives are set to participate in the Marché du film de Cannes, one of the largest film markets in the world which will run during the Cannes Film Festival from May 14 to May 23.

Skyline Media Co. Ltd has carried out a series of social media campaigns for several horror movies, including “Kẻ ăn hồn”, known as “The Soul Reaper” in English, directed by Tran Huu Tan.

The film earned a record revenue of VND55 billion following nine days of nationwide screening to make it one of the top seven highest-grossing Vietnamese movies in 2023.

Other Vietnamese movies such as “Linh miêu” by director Luu Thanh Luan, “Nhà gia tiên” by Huynh Lap, “Cô dâu hào môn” by Vu Ngoc Dang, and “Đêm âm hồn” by Hoang Nam will be introduced at Cannes festival’s film market.

The Marché du Film de Cannes is one of the largest film markets in the world. First established back in 1959, the occasion is held annually to run in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival.

The main purpose of the market is to bring together various players from the audiovisual industry in order to make connections and discuss business opportunities, such as collaborations, co-productions, financing, and distribution.

This year the event is scheduled to attract around 14,000 participants from 140 countries and territories worldwide. With hundreds of booths, the market is expected to become a global leading business meeting place for the film industry.

This marks the third time Vietnam has sent representatives to the Cannes festival’s film market. The market also aims to support Vietnamese cinema in connecting with the wider world.
