HÀ NỘI Photographs capturing historical moments, memorable milestones and the remarkable achievements of Hà Nội over the past 70 years are on display at the Hà Nội Trong Tôi (Hà Nội in Me) exhibition at the Temple of Literature.

The event is organised by the Kinh Tế & Đô Thị (Economic & Urban) newspaper, in collaboration with the Hà Nội Senior Photographers Club and the Temple of Literature Cultural and Scientific Activity Centre. It is part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hà Nội (October 10, 1954 - 2024) from French reoccupation during the First Indochina War

Hà Nội Trong Tôi is showing 80 photos divided into three sections under the same theme: Hà Nội Vươn Mình Bứt Phá (Hà Nội Striving for Breakthrough).

The first section, Hà Nội - Thủ Đô Anh Hùng (Hà Nội - The Heroic Capital), features archived photos capturing the glorious years and significant historical milestones of the city from October 10, 1954 until 1975.

In its second section, Hà Nội Trên Đường Đổi Mới (Hà Nội on the Path of Renewal), the exhibition shows works focusing on the period from 1975 to 2008, highlighting the city’s transformation and development over the decades.

The last part, Hà Nội Bứt Phá Hôm Nay (Hà Nội’s Breakthrough Today) displays images of Hà Nội as a capital of culture, civilisation and modernity in the present day.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition on Monday, Nguyễn Thành Lợi, editor-in-chief of the Economic & Urban newspaper, said Hà Nội in Me has undergone a long journey of 19 years, evolving from a small 'playground' for senior photographers in 2000 into an important annual cultural event for the capital.

The scale and quality of the exhibition have improved each year, attracting significant interest from both the public and photographers alike, he added.

"The photographs displayed this time will give the public a vivid impression of a heroic and elegant Hà Nội, a 'City for Peace', that is making breakthroughs and that is rich in cultural identity, and striving to integrate with the region and the world," he noted.

Every year, the photo exhibition follows a distinct theme, aligned with the direction of development and significant events for the capital.

It has taken viewers through various facets of the city, such as Hà Nội’s Architectural Heritage in 2016, The Life Rhythm of the Capital in 2017, Craft Villages and Streets in 2018, Friendly and Creative Hà Nội in 2019, Cultural Colours of the Capital in 2022, and Hà Nội - 15 Years of Administrative Boundary Expansion in 2023.

The Hà Nội in Me photo exhibition will run until October 10 at the Temple of Literature. VNS
