HÀ NỘI Hundreds of Vietnamese students attended the Denmark in Your Eyes 2024 painting contest launch.

Under the theme 'Green Initiatives', the contest this year is to encourage school children to learn more about environmental and climate challenges as well as to share their initiatives, thoughts and visions for how to protect the environment and natural resources.

Contestants are invited to use their imagination and put their green ideas on biodiversity, energy efficiency, reduction of CO2 emissions and zero plastics, onto paper.

"I believe that this is an engaging platform for Vietnamese students to voice and share their thoughts, concerns, hopes and ideas on how to nurture and protect our planet," said the Ambassador of Denmark in Việt Nam.

"I cannot wait to see their bold, creative and inspirational ideas on how we can make our planet a green and liveable home for all."

The competition is open to all Vietnamese students, from both primary and secondary schools. The deadline for submissions is December 20. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the end of the school year 2024 – 2025 in Hà Nội.

The jury board of the competition will consist of prestigious painters from Kim Đồng Publishing House and Thiếu Niên Tiền Phong (Young Pioneers) and Nhi Đồng (Chilren) newspapers and representatives from the Việt Nam Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA) and Embassy of Denmark.

The first contest, co-hosted by VIDAFA and the Embassy of Denmark took place in 2016 during the celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Denmark.

It since been held on an annual basis - every year with a new theme but always with a strong focus on the environment and the green agenda.

There will be one grand prize, two first prizes, three second prizes and six third prizes. The grand prize winner will be awarded with a tablet and a set of LEGO toys.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will also win LEGO, while there will be 50 encouragement prizes for individuals and two groups will receive the organisers’ awards. VNS
