According to the World Health Organisation, from October 24 to December 5, the Panzi health zone in Kwango Province of the DRC reported 416 cases of unknown disease, with 31 fatalities marking a mortality rate of 7.6 per cent.
The General Department of Preventive Medicine has stated it will continue closely monitor the situation and coordinate with WHO and other international partners to share updates and assess the outbreak’s progression.
The disease has been reported in 29 out of 30 districts and towns. The most hard-hit so far were Đan Phượng with 35 cases, followed by Thanh Xuân with 30 and Hà Đông with 25.
Statistics from HCM City Centre for Disease Control showed that in the past week, the city recorded 85 cases of fever accompanied by rash with 20 cases confirmed to be measles.
The Health Ministry has urged HCM City authorities to take immediate action against the current measles outbreak, which has resulted in the deaths of three children.
