HÀ NỘI — One million people will be screened for diseases through an artificial intelligence (AI) platform during a volunteer programme for community health.

The scheme is jointly organised by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) and the Vietnam Young Physicians' Association (VYPA).

About 100,000 others nationwide will be provided with direct medical consultations and check-ups during the programme from May to October this year, which is expected to be engaged by 20,000 young doctors.

The VYPA hopes the provision of information on non-communicable diseases on online platforms will attract approximately one billion views.

One million young people will receive advice on how to prevent and control non-communicable diseases, while at least 1,000 disadvantaged individuals, patients, and children will be provided with financial support or free medical assistance.

Many new activities will be added to the programme, targeting ethnic minority areas.

More than 100,000 people across the country will continue to receive examinations for lung diseases, including X-rays and CT scans. They can be screened for lung diseases and lung cancer by sending information and X-ray films to an AI platform operated by the VYPA.

Within the framework of the journey, a programme on cardiovascular and metabolic kidney disease screening will be provided to 20,000 people at the National Hospital of Endocrinology and the Bạch Mai Hospital in Hà Nội, the Thống Nhất Hospital in HCM City, and hospitals in Bình Dương Province.

Other activities such as medical examinations and gift-giving programmes aimed at disadvantaged workers, donation of one million boxes of Berocca vitamin and mineral supplements to those coming for medical check-ups will also be arranged.

According to VYF Deputy Chairman Nguyễn Hữu Tú, this is the largest voluntary medical examination programme ever conducted by the medical youth force, which demonstrates the spirit of volunteering for the community.

The organisers set to provide check-ups to over 2,000 people in Hà Nội at an opening ceremony slated for May 18, covering basic blood tests, chest X-rays, ultrasound, electrocardiograms, and screening for specific diseases. — VNS
