BẮC KẠN — One man has been rescued after a cave collapsed in the northern Bắc Kạn Province, with another injured and one other still missing.

The man was trapped near the cave's entrance and sustained minor injuries.

Another person sustained a broken arm from the collapse and was taken to Bắc Kạn Provincial General Hospital for treatment.

The accident site is located about 500m from the main road, which has caused difficulty for rescue forces. They are using hydraulic jacks to remove rocks and locate the remaining person trapped in the cave.

According to local authorities, the collapse occurred around 5.30pm on Sunday and is suspected to be an illegal gold mining case.

Bắc Kạn Provincial People’s Committee mobilised rescue and police forces to the scene to carry out an urgent search operation for the victims upon learning about the accident. — VNS
