HCM CITY – HCM City authorities opened Cây Khô bridge on August 30, which connects the two suburban districts of Nhà Bè and Bình Chánh.

The Cây Khô Bridge project was approved by the City Department of Transport in December 2015 with a total investment of more than VNĐ500 billion (US$20.1 million) from the city budget.

The construction cost was more than VNĐ306 billion, while the cost of compensation for site clearance and other costs were more than VNĐ114 billion.

The project started in 2016, however, due to problems with site clearance, it has only now been completed.

The reinforced concrete bridge across the Cây Khô Canal in Nhà Bè District is 485 meters long and 12.5 meters wide with two lanes for cars and two lanes for motorbikes and non-motorized vehicles.

The project also includes 292m long and 12.5m wide approach roads at both ends of the bridge and 540m long residential roads on both sides of the bridge, along with a lighting system on the bridge.

This bridge helps shorten the travel distance of people in the two districts by about 10km.

In addition, Cây Khô Bridge also helps reduce traffic pressure on Huỳnh Tấn Phát Street and Nguyễn Hữu Thọ Street, making it easier to travel between Nguyễn Văn Linh Street and Hiệp Phước Port Industrial Park.

The project also strengthens the connection between Nhà Bè District, District 7 and Bình Chánh District, creating conditions for Phước Lộc Commune to become a new growth engine of Nhà Bè District.

In the remaining months of this year, the city will also urgently complete and put into use 28 roads, bridges and tunnels to reduce traffic congestion and clear the city's gateway arteries.

The largest project is the construction of a new road connecting Trần Quốc Hoàn, Cộng Hòa and Phan Thúc Duyện streets at the gateway to Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in Tân Bình District, with a total cost of more than VNĐ4.8 trillion ($187.7 million).

This project started construction at the end of 2022, aiming to form a new road longer than 4km, connecting to Terminal No. 3 of Tân Sơn Nhất Airport. – VNS
