The victim's disfigured fingers raised suspicions that the killers had tried to conceal the victim's identity. DNA testing with relatives ultimately confirmed the victim's identity.
At a press conference held earlier the same day, Thai police also said cyanide was found in all coffee cups at the scene, and one of the six is believed to have poisoned the others over debt issues.
According to the police, one person killed five others in the room then took their own life. It is understood the killings stem from debt-related issues.
They checked out of the four rooms in the afternoon on July 15 and gathered all their belongings into the other room, where the bodies were later discovered.
Võ Thành Long, 20, is accused of murdering a girl and stealing her belongings, while his friend Vũ Thành Huy helped him dispose of the body in a suitcase.
