Việt Nam was followed by China and Thailand, MegaFon said, noting that Asia continued to show the highest momentum for outbound tours from the oblast, with an increase of 83 per cent compared to the summer of 2023.

MOSCOW – Việt Nam saw the highest growth rate in the number of tourists from Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod oblast in summer 2024, with a 4.4-fold increase, according to the Russian network operator MegaFon.

Việt Nam was followed by China and Thailand, MegaFon said, noting that Asia continued to show the highest momentum for outbound tours from the oblast, with an increase of 83 per cent compared to the summer of 2023.

Turkey remains the most popular destination, attracting 28 per cent of tourists from the oblast. Others in the top 5 most visited countries include Abkhazia, Belarus, Egypt and Georgia.

China and Thailand became the most popular Asian destinations, while Egypt led in Africa, attracting 93% of travellers choosing the continent. In Europe, Nizhny Novgorod residents favoured Italy, Serbia and Greece. — VNA/VNS
