HCM CITY Another open-top double-decker bus route is planned for HCM City to improve the service's quality and promote tourism.

The HCM City Department of Transport has just reported to the City People's Committee about an additional business proposing to open a new open-top double-decker bus route to promote tourism and the night-time economy.

The company is Viet Bigbus Tourism Transport and Communication Joint Stock Company.

The operational scope includes two routes in District 1 and District 5, and parts of Districts 3, 4, 6, 10, and Thủ Đức City.

Among these, the route exploring old and new Sài Gòn passes through tourist attractions such as Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street, Independence Palace, the Central Post Office, the War Remnants Museum, Nhà Rồng Wharf, Bạch Đằng Wharf, and Ba Son Bridge.

The route exploring Chợ Lớn passes through locations such as Independence Palace, Lê Hồng Phong High School, Bùi Viện Walking Street, Huyện Sỹ Church, Sài Gòn University, An Đông Market, Thiên Hậu Temple, Kim Biên Market, and Bình Tây Market.

According to the HCM City Department of Transport, the city currently has two businesses piloting the operation of two open-top double-decker bus routes for tourists.

Ảnh Việt Hop On - Hop Off Company operates route DL01, which has been in service since January 2020.

On May 29, the company launched double-decker bus route DL03.

Meanwhile, Việt Nam - Hà Nội Tourism Joint Stock Company operates route DL02, which started in August 2022, and launched route DL04 on July 7.

After research and consultation with relevant departments and agencies, the HCM City Department of Transport stated that the proposed routes by Viet Bigbus do not completely overlap with the existing routes of DL01, DL02, DL03 and DL04.

The pick-up and drop-off points are generally in line with the list of 175 locations and tourist areas provided by the City Department of Tourism.

Therefore, the proposal for organising tourist transport using open-top double-decker buses by Viet Bigbus is in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Transport and meets the conditions for implementation in the city. VNS
