ĐÀ NẴNG — Efforts have been continuing by the two countries of Việt Nam and Korea in building the friendship ties closer than even, and the 30-year diplomatic partnership was paid off with fruitful successes in the past years and now.

Head of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Đà Nẵng, Kang Boo Sung said at the opening ceremony of the annual Việt Nam-Korea Culture Exchange Festival, stating that the strategic comprehensive partnership between Việt Nam and Korea have been promoted in terms of economy, trade, investment, culture and people-to-people exchange, and the third Festival was an example.

“Đà Nẵng, a key city in central Việt Nam, has played an important role in the Việt Nam-Korea partnership as the city hosted 1.4 million Korean tourists – 40 per cent of total Korean visiting Việt Nam in 2023. Korean investment also reached US$2.7 billion with 371 projects,” Kang Boo Sung said.

“The Consulate General of Korea, in cooperation with the city, has been boosting the expansion in investment and co-operation fields of hi-tech industries, business-to-business, university as well as strengthening deeper bilateral benefit co-operation in the future,” he added.

He also said the festival this year involved the participation of Jeju, Gangwon and Gurye for better friendship exchanges among local and cities from Việt Nam and Korea.

Korea has seen as a top investor in Việt Nam with total $85.9 billion, while bilateral import-export turn-over was $76.1 billion last year, he said.

Many Korean businesses are seeking for hi-quality manpower from universities in central Việt Nam for development of information and communication technology (ICT) projects, he said at the Việt Nam-Korea ICT conference in the city.

An exhibition and 60 pavilions opened for all visitors at East Sea Park on August 16-18, offering series of cultural activities and cuisine experience including a Korean food contest, Hanbok and Vietnamese long dress trails, folk games, a Taekwondo experience and a performance of a K-Pop random dance.

The city has reserved a South Korean tourist promotion programme ‘Enjoy Đà Nẵng Again’ to attract more South Korean visitors from July 15 to the end of 2024 including good price at four and five-star hotel, Đà Nẵng Downtown show, Charming Show, shopping, spa service by scanning QRcode at Đà Nẵng International Airport.
