HCM CITY — Fifty-five artists from nine countries had an opportunity to interact, create, and exchange academic ideas at the 2024 International Art Creation Camp held in HCM City from July 15 to 20.

With the theme "HARMONY", the camp was organised by Văn Lang University (VLU) as part of activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of VLU's establishment.

The event not only created opportunities for cultural exchange but also allowed artists to share their unique artistic perspectives and views.

The artists were professors of universities from Korea, India, Mauritius, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Poland, Indonesia, and Việt Nam.

They created artworks with strong personal imprints, contributing to enriching cultural and artistic life.

Trần Thị Mỹ Diệu, president of VLU, said the camp not only creates unique art products, enriches cultural and artistic life, but also helps to inspire generations of students, thereby fostering the appreciation of artistic traditions and future development.

This is a testament to VLU's commitment to being an international cultural exchange centre accompanying and maintaining the existence of art, contributing to global cultural diversity and affirming the role of art creation in spreading artistic and cultural values, she said.

This event is not just an academic workshop but also an international cultural exchange forum where artists can share views and learn from each other.

“It is expected to bring inspiration and arouse excitement in the hearts of participants, encouraging artists to continue to create and develop in the future,” she said.

At the creation camp, experts created unique art products such as monotype printing, zinc printing, woodcut, rubber carving, along with painting techniques like graphic prints and paintings.

Beyond just creating artworks, an art workshop offered an opportunity for artists and professors to share teaching experiences and academic knowledge, forming an international academic exchange network among specialised art universities.

Additionally, the event brought many practical skills to students. VLU students had the opportunity to access the latest methods, techniques and technologies in the field of art and printing, thereby improving their practical and creative skills.

These activities enriched the curriculum and brought profound and rewarding experiences to students' creative careers.

After five days of creation, the artists produced 91 artworks, including 58 works in acrylic and 33 works from printmaking.

With the orientation to become an international cultural exchange centre encouraging the creation and preservation of culture, VLU regularly organises cultural and artistic events to promote the development of art and maintain the traditional cultural values of the country. — VNS
