The capital city of Hanoi will play host to the first international lantern design competition and demonstration festival on January 18, 2025, at the Ocean City urban complex.

Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of art and admire various world-famous "intangible cultural heritages" through the lantern festival.

Themed "Shine for Life", the festival will not only gather together the world's best lantern artisans, but will also present opportunities to further elevate and bring lantern art into contemporary life.

Through the competition, artisans will be able to maximise the quintessence of traditional lantern art, combining the unlimited creativity that comes from modern technologies to introduce unique and eye-catching visual feasts for members of the public to enjoy.

The ceremony to honour the most impressive lantern works and the most talented artisans is scheduled to take place on January 18.

The Ocean International Lantern Festival will also be launched on the same day, and will last until March 16.
