According to TripAdvisor, one of the best ways to truly experience a city is through its cuisine. Visitors should be able to taste traditional recipes passed down through the years, sample fusion eats shaped by the local community, and experience modern dining concepts steered by a new generation of culinary innovators.
The platform shared that unlike the bold and spicy flavours found in southern Vietnamese dishes, cuisine from the capital is more subtle and delicate, enhancing the natural flavours of local ingredients by making use of light broths, fresh herbs, and simple seasonings.
It revealed that Bun Cha is a quintessential Hanoi dish which perfectly embodies these things as it is a noodle dish which elevates the smokiness of the grilled pork patties by pairing it with a light dipping sauce.
“The bustling Old Quarter and French Quarter are where you want to go to try street food and other local specialties like banh cuon (steamed rice rolls with pork and mushroom), southern-style pho (noodle soup dish), and cha ca la vong (grilled turmeric-marinated fish),” says the platform.
