Hanoi develops night-time economy with suitable tourism products

In addition to making great economic contributions, the night-time economy also creates major changes for domestic service and tourism industries, giving fresh impetus to boosting national economic development.

However, according to economic experts, to develop this field, it is necessary to design and create night tourism products suitable for each city.

In recent years, Hanoi's tourism industry has witnessed a strong transformation, especially in the development of night-time tourism. This is a new direction, not only attracting domestic tourists but also affirming Hanoi's attractiveness to international visitors.

Implementing a project on developing the night-time economy in Vietnam, Hanoi has so far announced 20 unique night tourism products. Currently, night tourism products are mostly concentrated in inner-city districts.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism is continuing to promote cultural and artistic performance models, shopping, night entertainment, while introducing culinary culture, and nighttime dining services in suburban districts.

Dang Huong Giang, director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism emphasized that in the coming time, the Department will propose a plan to coordinate with relevant departments and sectors to develop art products and those from craft villages.

“To develop the economy, it is essential to devise a gradual roadmap. The night economy has the advantage of attracting tourists and creating highlights for each locality and region. The more diverse and rich the night economy is invested in, the more likely it is to retain tourists,” said Giang.

Meanwhile, economic expert Dinh Trong Thinh said that it is necessary to plan construction space for nighttime activities systematically, design and build night tourism products suitable for each city.

“We can take advantage of the historical and cultural sites and unique features of each location so that each locality can develop its night-time economy in the best way. In addition, there needs to be a plan for night-time economic activities in a bid to limit the impact on residential areas,” he added.
