Many wild birds have recently returned to live on Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi as the environment has improved.

Dozens of wild birds can be seen flying around the lake now.

Ngoc Islet with lush trees has been chosen by the birds to build nests.

The islet has become a busy bird community when they come in and out looking for food and building nests.

Five old trees along the road by the lake have also hosted many bird nests.

Young birds are learning to fly on a big tree.

Some local residents said that they were happy to see more large wild birds, including storks, bitterns, or kingfishers returning to live on the lake.

"We rarely saw those large birds living here," a local man said. "There were only pigeons raised at surrounding families or small birds like sparrows coming to this place. This shows that the environment here has become better and safer for the birds."

Besides birds, squirrels have also returned to live around the lake.
