Hanoi attracts US$1.12 billion in FDI in five months
The capital city of Hanoi attracted US$1.120 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the past five months of the year, of which there were 92 new projects with a total registered capital of US$1.025 billion.
May alone witnessed Hanoi grant licenses to 19 new FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$17.3 million.
During the five-month period, the city issued certificates to 12,900 newly established businesses with registered capital totaling VND124.3 trillion, representing a drop of 2% in terms of the number of businesses and 3.5% in registered capital compared to the same period from last year.
Furthermore, as many as 5,400 businesses resumed operations, up 18.5%, while nearly 16,200 firms temporarily suspended their operations, up 29.4%.
In addition, nearly 1,700 enterprises dissolved in the reviewed period, representing an increase of 14.8%. Notably, the rate of business registration documents was maintained at 100%.
