HÀ NỘI – President Tô Lâm on Tuesday signed a decision on the presentation of gifts to revolution contributors on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
The beneficiaries include women holding the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother, wounded and sick soldiers, those serving the resistance wars and suffering from toxic chemicals, relatives of martyrs, representatives of martyrs’ relatives, and persons in charge of worshiping martyrs (in case a martyr doesn’t have any relatives).
Gifts worth VNĐ600,000 (US$23.6) and VNĐ300,000 per person will be presented basing on certain criteria.
The Prime Minister, Chairperson of the Presidential Office, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Minister of Finance, and relevant state agencies were assigned to implement the decision.
Presenting gifts is one of the activities held annually to express gratitude to those who laid down their lives or made significant contributions to the revolution.
In 1947, then President Hồ Chí Minh designated July 27 as the War Invalids and Martyrs Day to remind the entire Party, armed forces and people of the tradition of expressing gratitude to forerunners, thereby contributing to the great national solidarity and public trust in the Party and State. – VNS
