'Friendship Road' Marathon to boost ties between Vietnamese, Chinese localities

A 'Friendship Road' marathon stretching from the mountainous province of Lao Cai to Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in China will take place for the first time from November 29 to November 30.

The event will see collaboration between the two countries localities and will be held within the framework of The Song Hong (Red River) Festival 2024, which will take place from September to November in Lao Cai.

The marathon aims to inspire the physical exercise spirit, while also contributing to increasing sports exchanges between Vietnamese and Chinese localities.

Accordingly, both domestic and foreign athletes will be able to register to compete in the men’s and women’s 42km, 21km, and five km.

Runners who compete in te 42km distance will start in the central square of Bat Xat district before then runnin through Ban Vuoc bridge, Coc My commune, Mau Trinh Tuong Temple, and Lung Po junction before then crossing the finish line at the Lung Po flagpole.

Applications should be sent before November 25 to the Lao Cai Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center at 30/4 street Bac Lenh ward and Lao Cai City of Lao Cai province.
