Four young local faces have been named in the list of Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia which was released on May 16.

The list features a total of 300 entrepreneurs and young leaders who are contributing to their industries and making an impact across the Asia-Pacific region.

They make each of the 10 categories, including The Arts (Art & Style, Food & Drink), Entertainment & Sports, Finance & Venture Capital, Media, Marketing & Advertising, Retail & Ecommerce, Enterprise Technology, Industry, Manufacturing & Energy, Healthcare & Science, along with Social Impact and Consumer Technology.

Here are the nation’s four representatives included in the prestigious list by Forbes:

Phan Dang Hoang

Born in 2000 in the central province of Nghe An, Phan Dang Hoang is a Vietnamese fashion designer who graduated from La Nuova accademia di belle arti in Milan back in 2022.

Upon returning to Vietnam, Hoang launched a label under his own name which has been showcased at Milan Fashion Week.

His talent can be seen in several outstanding collections, such as Sculpture 2024, Quintessence 2022, and La Peinture 2023.

His latest collection, which was shown online in February, is entitled Sonder and draws inspiration from Vietnamese artist Le Thi Luu's silk paintings.

Hoang's style combines both Asian and Western influences, whilst his designs have been featured in Vogue and L'Officiel and worn by singer and model Ho Ngoc Ha in a Harper's Bazaar Vietnam cover shoot.

Dong Van Hung

Dong Van Hung is the YouTuber behind the "Am Thuc Me Lam" (My Mother's Cooking) channel, boasting over one million subscribers and introducing Vietnamese rural cuisine to a global audience.

He launched the channel back in early 2019 and unexpectedly attracted many viewers in a short space of time, reaching 100,000 subscribers in just three months and gaining the Silver Play Button.

“Each video portrays the genuine experiences of Hung and his mother as they prepare meals, tend to their garden, and share the simplicity of living in the countryside,” Forbes said on its website.

The channel was among the few representatives from the country participating in the YouTube FanFest event in 2020.

Pham Tuan Huy

According to Forbes, as researcher of mathematics at Stanford University, Pham Tuan Huy recently proved the Kahn-Kalai conjecture.

“This important mathematics theory gives people a way to compute when a tipping point in a large system might occur, which potentially allows, for example, a better analysis of the spread of diseases,” says the website.

Together with Korean mathematician Jinyoung Park who is over 30, the young local scientist published the research in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society in January.

Tran Tuan Minh (Brian Minh Tran)

Tran Tuan Minh, aka Brian Minh Tran, is the cofounder and chair of UpYouth, a non-profit organisation focused on supporting student entrepreneurs in the nation.

On its website, Forbes revealed that UpYouth, which was founded back in 2020, hosts workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs with guest speakers from well-established startups and companies such as Vingroup, Vietnam's largest company by market capitalisation, and Vietnamese startup Sky Mavis, developer of blockchain-based video game Axie Infinity.

UpYouth says that more than 30,000 students have benefited from its workshops. It also runs an incubator, which the organisation says has so far helped 30 student startups raise a combined US$3.5 million.

Tran Tuan Minh also works as assistant to the global deputy CEO at VinFast, the car unit of Vingroup.
