The total value includes roughly US$16.3 billion worth of the export of timber and wood products. This has resulted in a trade surplus of US$14.4 billion, statistics showed.
December alone saw Vietnam earn US$1.68 billion from forestry exports. Of this figure, the export value of timber and wood products hit US$1.55 billion, up 15.8% compared to the same period last year.
The United States remained the largest export market for Vietnamese timber and wood products, accounting for over 55% of the total export value this year.
Other key markets include the EU, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
The wood industry is striving to overcome a range of formidable challenges to achieve the export revenue target of US$18 billion set for the whole of 2025.
