Fisherman missing at sea in Bình Định Province

A local fisherman, Trương Văn Tỷ, in the coastal south-central province of Bình Định, was reported missing from a fishing vessel operating 110 nautical miles northeast of Song Tử Tây Island.

BÌNH ĐỊNH — Trương Văn Tỷ, a local fisherman of Tam Quan Bắc Ward, Hoài Nhơn Town in the coastal south-central province of Bình Định, has been reported missing while working at sea.

According to the initial report from the province’s Standing Office for Disaster Prevention and Control, the fishing vessel BĐ95991-TS, owned by Trần Đình Tài and captained by Trần Đình Thiên, both from the ward, set sail with four crew members, including Tỷ, to fish for ocean tuna.

At around 8pm on Monday, while operating in waters approximately 110 nautical miles northeast of Song Tử Tây Island, Tỷ went missing.

After receiving the report, the office requested the provincial Fisheries Division, the provincial Border Guard Command, Quy Nhơn Coastal Information Station to issue a notice and mobilise all fishing vessels operating near the BĐ95991-TS vessel to assist in the search for Tỷ.— VNS
