An exhibition was held at the GO! Mall Lao Cai on August 29 as part of efforts to introduce typical products of Thailand and Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Hoang Quoc Khanh, vice chairman of the Lao Cai provincial People's Committee, highlighted the economic, trade, and investment linkages that exist among localities and enterprises between Vietnam and Thailand.

To date, Thai investors have injected capital into two investment projects in Lao Cai province, including Go! Mall Lao Cai and the Go! Lao Cai Supermarket project with total investment exceeding US$17 million.

Khanh requested the Vietnamese Embassy and relevant agencies in Thailand continue providing assistance to Thai enterprises as they seek to further explore trade and investment opportunities in Lao Cai and throughout northern midlands and mountainous provinces.

He went on to express his hope that the Thai Embassy in Vietnam would co-ordinate alongside the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee to establish a co-operation mechanism, exchange information on trade promotion programmes to accelerate trade promotion and logistics activities in Thailand.

Upon addressing the ceremony, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya emphasised that the event has contributed to fulfilling the two countries' commitment to ramping up collaboration in economic, cultural, and social development.

These booths at the event have not only introduced hi-technology, innovative products and traditional handicrafts of both sides, but also strengthened co-ordination activities among trade partners, she noted.

The Vietnam - Thailand exhibition area has 36 booths, of which, 20 booths are from Thai enterprises and corporations in Vietnam, including CP Vietnam, Central Retail, Thaibev, Amata VN, Thai Airways, and Melia Hotel.
