Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous city in Vietnam, features on the list of the 25 best places to go in the world in 2025, as compiled by travel magazine CNTraveller of the United States.

The southern metropolis ranks 10th on the list and has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing tourism powerhouses, shattering pre-pandemic records by a healthy margin.

According to the magazine, those travelling domestically will be able to take advantage of Tan Son Nhat Airport’s Terminal 3 which opens in 2025. They can enjoy tours around the city’s iconic Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel and the numerous other venues slated to open soon, including IHG's Hotel Indigo and the Kengo Kuma-designed Kempinski Saigon River.

Beyond urban and tourism infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City shines brightest as one of Southeast Asia’s cultural epicentres, representing a regional hub of commerce, dining, and fashion, the magazine added.

CNTraveller revealed that the southern city retains much of its old-world charm, ranging from bustling markets to rustic street vendors hawking hủ tiếu (noodle soup) and bánh mì (sandwiches).

There is no better time to visit the city than in 2025, it concluded.

Rounding off the list of the best places to go next year is Ahr Valley of Germany, Alaska of the United States, Cuba, Djerba of Tunisia, Dronning Maud Land of Antarctica, El Impenetrable National Park of Argentina, Emerald Coast of Nicaragua, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland, among others.
