CẦN THƠ — A variety of cultural and sports activities will be featured at the annual Phong Điền – Cần Thơ Eco-tourism Festival in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Cần Thơ from July 5-9.

The festival is co-organised by Phong Điền District and the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to introduce specialties and tourism products of the district and the city to local and international visitors.

The event will showcase popular fruits in Cần Thơ such as rose apple, star apple, mangosteen, rambutan, durian, sweet orange and pomelo, along with fruit arrangements by local artisans.

It will also present signature savoury and sweet dishes such as traditional cakes, and sweet porridges to local and international visitors, as well as hundreds of OCOP (one commune one product) products and specialties from the city.

The organisers will offer a parade of electric cars across Phong Điền in the morning of July 6 as well.

A photo exhibition entitled Du Lịch Sinh Thái Phong Điền (Eco-tourism in Phong Điền District) will be set up to introduce attractive destinations to tourists.

The district now has 48 eco-tourism areas and orchards providing different experiences for visitors such as riding boats, catching fish, and picking fruit.

The destinations include Mỹ Khánh, Ông Đề and Lung Cột Cầu tourism villages which are recognised as outstanding destinations in the region by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association.

In addition, the festival also offers a series of traditional music performances, folk games, gymnastics and chess contests for young people, and a composite boat race.

The festival will take place at the Phong Điền District’s Square. It is expected to attract around 40,000 visitors. — VNS
