BÌNH THUẬN - Bình Thuận aims to develop diverse types of tourism and tourism products with emphasis on sustainability, environmental protection and promotion of cultural identity and ethnic traditions.

With the aim of developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector and a pillar of socio-economic development of the locality, the People's Committee of Bình Thuận Province has approved the Project on Diversifying Tourism and Tourism Products of Bình Thuận by 2025, with a vision to 2030.

Priority will be given to developing characteristic and professional tourism models and enhancing the competitiveness of Bình Thuận tourism.

Additionally, the locality aims to attract investors with reputable brands, resources and experience to invest in tourism in the province to develop a variety of tourism products and services.

By 2025, the province will diversify basic tourism models and create specialised tourism products, including cultural and historical tourism, community-based tourism, agricultural tourisms and eco-tourism.

It aims to gradually expand the market, increase the number of tourists to 11.4 million, with tourism revenue reaching over VNĐ24,6 trillion, and contributing 10 per cent to the provincial GDP.

By 2030, the province will focus on diversifying characteristic and professional tourism models and creating unique tourism products such as wellness tourism, MICE tourism, research tourism, and city tours in Phan Thiết.

It also strives to increase the number of tourists to 23.3 million, tourism revenue to over VNĐ70.1 trillion, while contributing 12 per cent to the provincial GDP.

To achieve these goals, the project sets out to restructure the tourism development space into four areas with their respective main tourism products.

Specifically, in the Northeastern area, the focus is on the Phan Rí Cửa - Bình Thạnh - Liên Hương urban area with main products such as ecotourism, beach resorts, mineral hot spring therapy, diving, and visiting the marine conservation area of Hòn Cau.

The central tourism area, focusing on the Mũi Né National Tourist Area and the southern part of Phan Thiết city, will feature MICE tourism, eco-tourism, sports tourism, beach resorts, wellness tourism, and night-time economy models.

Recently, especially after the success of the National Tourism Year - Bình Thuận "Green convergence" in 2023, tourism in the province has been continuously growing, becoming one of the most attractive destinations nationwide.

Tourism businesses have gradually recovered, developed, continuously created many products, improved the quality of services for tourists, and enhanced tourism workforce training.

In addition to effectively exploiting and promoting natural advantages, tourism in Bình Thuận has flourished thanks to convenient transportation and infrastructure connectivity.

The Phan Thiết - Dầu Giây and Vĩnh Hảo - Phan Thiết expressways have been put into operation, reducing travel time from other localities to Bình Thuận, which provides a significant boost for the local tourism industry.

According to statistics from the General Statistics Office, in the first five months of 2024, Bình Thuận welcomed over 3.7 million tourists, reaching 38 per cent of the annual plan, an increase of 4 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.

International tourists reached 198,000, an increase of 78 per cent compared to the same period in 2023. Tourism revenue reached VNĐ9.74 trillion. VNS
