BÌNH ĐỊNH - Bình Định Province has been finding ways to retain artisans and artists who pursue traditional art forms.

The Department of Culture and Sports of Bình Định Province said that the Provincial People's Council has passed a resolution outlining certain policies for the preservation and promotion of traditional art forms from 2024 to 2028.

These art forms are recognised as national intangible cultural heritage and represent intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and include Tuồng (classical drama - Hát Bội (classical Vietnamese opera) and Bài Chòi (half card game, half theatre performance).

The subjects of this resolution include retired artists and recognised artisans by competent authorities who are engaged in preserving and promoting traditional art forms via practicing, performing and teaching, and reside in the province.

Clubs and non-public art troupes that perform traditional art forms that have been established and operating within the province are also included.

The resolution also specifically outlines support levels for retired artists and artisans who practice, perform, and teach to serve in the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage.

Accordingly, the practice fee is VNĐ180,000/person/session.

The performance fee is VNĐ360,000/person/session.

The teaching fee for people's artisans and elite artisans is VNĐ800,000 per person per session, the fee for retired people's artists and elite artists is VNĐ600,000 per person per session while retired artists, artisans will receive VNĐ500,000 per person per session.

Additionally, clubs that perform and teach at least twelve sessions per year will receive support of VNĐ30 million per club for purchasing equipment.

Regarding annual operating funding support, clubs with 10-20 members will receive VNĐ5 million per year; 20-30 members will receive VNĐ10 million per year; 30-50 members will receive VNĐ15 million per year, and VNĐ25 million per year will go to clubs with 50 members or more.

Moreover, traditional art troupes outside the public sector that are established and licensed by competent state agencies to perform, with at least 12 performances per year, will receive VNĐ100 million (one-time) to purchase equipment and VNĐ2 million per session when performing, for a maximum of VNĐ30 million per troupe per year.

This policy will contribute to retaining artisans and artists, foster the development of Tuồng and Bài Chòi art forms, and meet the increasing demand of the public for cultural enjoyment. VNS
