17 Vietnamese universities listed in QS Asian University Rankings for 2025

The rankings, published by QS, a global leader in educational evaluations, highlight Duy Tân University as Việt Nam’s highest-ranked institution, holding the 127th position despite dropping 10 places from the previous year.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has 17 universities listed in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings for 2025, an increase of two institutions compared to last year.

The rankings, published by QS, a global leader in educational evaluations, highlight Duy Tân University as Việt Nam’s highest-ranked institution, holding the 127th position despite dropping 10 places from the previous year.

Việt Nam National University, Hà Nội (161st), and Việt Nam National University, Hồ Chí Minh City (184th) follow, with Tôn Đức Thắng University also featured in the top 200 at 199th.

Other universities placed within the 300-500 range include Nguyễn Tất Thành University (333rd), Huế University (348th), the University of Economics – Hồ Chí Minh City (369th), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (388th).

Notable shifts this year include Tôn Đức Thắng University’s 61-place drop, while Văn Lang University and the Industrial University of Hồ Chí Minh City each rose over 200 spots, reflecting substantial gains.

The top four positions in the QS Asian Rankings remain the same as last year, led by Peking University (1st), the University of Hong Kong (2nd), the National University of Singapore (3rd), and Nanyang Technological University (4th).

China continues to dominate regionally with four universities in the top 10, including Peking University (1st), Fudan University (5th), Tsinghua University (7th), and Zhejiang University (8th).

Singapore has two institutions in the top 10, represented by the National University of Singapore (3rd) and Nanyang Technological University (4th).

South Korea, while represented solely by Yonsei University in the top 10, boasts the most universities in the top 20, with six institutions listed.

The QS Asian University Rankings 2025 feature 984 universities from 29 countries and territories, evaluated on academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, paper citations, and international diversity. Academic reputation holds the highest weight, at 30 per cent.

QS is among the three leading global university ranking organisations, alongside Times Higher Education (THE) and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). — VNS
