This marks the third time that the tournament will be organised in Vietnam, offering the total prize money of up to US$100,000.
At a press conference on July 30, Tran Chi Cuong, vice chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, said the hosting of the tournament is to promote the central city as a premier venue for events and festivals in Asia and to build its image as a friendly and hospitable tourist destination.
Mark Reeves, deputy general director of BRG Group, expressed hope that the tournament would inspire Vietnamese golfers as they compete against some of the world’s leading golfers.
Also during the competition, the administration of Da Nang will hold a survey programme of golf destinations and tourism products from August 27 to 30 with the participation of golf tour operators from Taiwan (China), Australia, Japan, and a number of Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. It will also put on a tour to discover sightseeing spots in the central coastal city.
