The national men’s football team of Vietnam moved up three places to reach 116th position in the newest FIFA men’s world rankings announced on November 28.

Although Vietnam played no games during the recent FIFA Days throughout November, their position was still upgraded in the global rankings.

The main reason for this change is that the teams ranking above Vietnam did not play well and were therefore deducted points in the latest rankings.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand maintained their top spot at 97th globally with 1228.24 points, dropping one place compared to October, while the Vietnamese side climbed three places to 116th position with 1161.11 points.

Indonesia came third in the Southeast Asia region at 125th globally with 1135.11 points, jumping five places against the October rankings.

In Asia, the top 5 teams include Japan at 15th globally, Iran at 18th, the Republic of Korea at 23rd, Australia at 26th, and Qatar at 48th. Vietnam ranked 21st overall in Asia.

Globally, Argentina remained in top place, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil.

FIFA is scheduled to announce the next rankings on December 19, which will be the final one of the year.
